CARTOON CORNER

Francois Mitterrand was President of France between 1981 and 1995. While campaigning for his first term, Mitterrand made a sing-song of his preparedness to be fair to Africa. However, when he became President, the French policy towards Africa took another turn with general disillusionment. It was this state of affairs that prompted today’s cartoon published in the Daily Times in 1981.
